Principles of Foodservice
Principles of Foodservice is a nine module induction short-course for foodservice industry new starters, it provides delegates with a level of knowledge that aids career progression from the very beginning.
Hosted online and delivered by a CFSP accredited professional, it is a framework course that promotes integration with the applicable business or sector whether manufacturer, distributor, service company, consultancy or operator. Our aim is to make the course as easy for you to deliver as possible and empower your staff with the knowledge they need to develop within their role.
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates receive an industry recognised certificate.
How relevant is the content?
The course covers six key areas of foodservice:
o Key distribution channels
o Effective food storage
o Food hygiene
o Food preparation
o Commercial kitchen equipment
o Kitchen and restaurant layout and design
Delivery is between 2-3 hours depending of the level of discussion.

What Does it Cost?
The course is available to CESA members for £135pp (+VAT), and £270pp (+VAT) for non-members.

CFSP (Certified Food Service Professional) is the industry specific professional qualification for the UK Foodservice industry.
It has been introduced under the auspices of CESA (Catering Equipment Suppliers Association) which is already an established and highly regarded body within the industry. CESA’s objective is to help improve the levels of professionalism in the sector by creating a universally recognised and respected industry ‘standard’ for knowledge and experience.
Becoming CFSP Accredited
CFSP is open to anyone within the foodservice industry.
To successfully achieve the designation and the benefits that accrue, candidates must demonstrate all of the following:
- study for and pass a comprehensive written test
- attend a full day seminar prior to the test
- prove certain levels of experience in the industry
- show personal development through the completion of recognised education/training programmes
- demonstrate active involvement in the industry
- designation and receive regular communication from the programme
What Does it Cost?
Your payment of £840 +VAT (£580+VAT for CESA, CEDA & FCSI members) covers the test programme, evaluation of experience and certification.
Once you pass the course, you will receive regular updates and information to recognise your status as a CFSP accredited professional.

Combico UK Engineer Technical Training
Engineer training specialist Combico UK is certified by Logic Certification to run courses and carry out assessments under the Nationally Accredited Certification Scheme for Gas Fitting Operatives (ACS). There is also a Managed Learning Programme for Non-Domestic Catering new entrants.

In addition, Combico UK runs its own City & Guilds accredited electrical competency course.
Commercial Catering Equipment Electrical Competency Course in association with CESA and CEDA.
Having appropriately trained and certified staff is essential in any business. This is especially the case for service and manufacturing staff.
The Catering Equipment Suppliers Association (CESA) and the Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA), both represented in the CESRB (Catering Equipment Standards and Registrations Board), have worked together with First Choice Combico UK to deliver the Commercial Catering Equipment Electrical Competency Course.
The course allows engineers to demonstrate their knowledge of basic electrical systems and tasks; upon successful completion they receive a City and Guilds certification. In recent years CESA and CEDA have been in association with British Gas for the Basic Electrical Skills course.
This new course with First Choice Combico UK covers the topics in two days instead of three. CCEECC differs from other courses with its focus purely on the commercial catering environment regarding safe isolation, testing etc.
The course cost is:
- £600.00+VAT for Non Members
- £420.00+VAT for CESA or CEDA Members
