Congratulations to Emrys Hughes - shortlisted for 57 Hospitality Heroes

We are delighted to inform CESA members that Emrys Hughes, Application Engineer at Plasma Clean  - winner of last year's CESA Foodservice Equipment Industry Apprentice of the Year Award, has been shortlisted as a semi-finalist in Kraft Heinz' 57 Hospitality Heroes competition in partnership with Arena, having been nominated by Keith Warren at CESA.

Emrys received confirmation from the team at Arena advising him that he had been shortlisted and had this to say:

"This is excellent news, I would just like to say that I feel very privileged to have been nominated for this award and thank you for this opportunity and also to Keith for nominating me.
CESA is a fantastic organisation who have been very supportive as part of my development in our great industry.
One of my personal ambitions is to promote more young professionals to come into our industry and this is a perfect example of how this can be done!"

57 Hospitality Heroes – Growing a Better World is a new competition run in partnership with Arena. The competition recognises foodservice and hospitality industry professionals under 30 who go above and beyond their job role, giving something back to the industry in their spare time. Individuals are nominated, rewarded and recognised by their peers.

It celebrates the exceptional ‘extracurricular’ contributions being made by young people across the foodservice and hospitality industry. The initiative marks Kraft Heinz 150th anniversary and aligns perfectly with its vision - to be the best food company, growing a better world. It believes “growing a better world” means working to improve our planet, its people and the communities where we work and live.

As a semi-finalist, both Emrys and Keith have been invited to a VIP drinks reception at The Shard on Thursday 5 September 2019 to celebrate his success.

The winners will be announced at Arena's Autumn event taking place on Monday 30 September 2019 in London.


Therefore don't forget that the CESA Foodservice Equipment Industry Apprentice of the Year Award 2019 is now open to individuals of a CESA member company who can demonstrate their exceptional contribution to their workplace through hard work and positive approach. To enter the Apprentice of the Year Award you must have been either currently undertaking a recognised apprenticeship programme or have completed one within the last 12 months.

The award’s scope covers all disciplines within a CESA member business whether that is an electrical or mechanical engineer or as part of the office team.
